About alert procedures

When a user enters text on a device with the Smoothwall Monitor client installed, the text is captured and analysed by the moderating artificial intelligence, which decides the risk category and level. If the capture falls into a risk category and level, the moderating team raise an event alert. If the capture falls into a risk category and level that requires it, the moderating team raise an event in Monitor, email all the safeguarding officers and phone the school to draw their attention to a serious incident. This all depends on the alert procedure agreed by the school when you first bought Monitor.

There are three different alert procedures, which you would've selected on the on-boarding form for each of your organisations when you first purchased Monitor:

  • Primary school
  • Secondary school
  • Further education

For your alert procedure to work you need to ensure that all your safeguarding contacts details are kept up to date.
