An alternative method of accessing your Smoothwall for administration purposes is to use a Secure Shell (SSH) console. You can control whether remote access is allowed. SSH access is turned on by default upon installation. Upgraded systems where SSH is turned off, remain as such. The Remote Support SSH option, means that Smoothwall Support representatives can remotely connect to your Smoothwall for diagnostic purposes. This option is turned off by default. You might be requested to turn on Remote Support SSH access by a Smoothwall Support representative as part of support request. Add a message to be shown to users after they have logged into their SSH session. Typical text might include warnings about editing configuration files.
