Enabling DHCP

Note: This topic applies to the Edinburgh Release.

The Smoothwall System's Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service enables network hosts to automatically obtain IP address and other network settings.

Note: Note that a Unified Threat Management serial is required to make use of the DHCP service. For more information, contact your Smoothwall representative.

The DHCP service provides a fully featured DHCP server, with the following capabilities:

Support for 20 DHCP subnets
Allocate addresses within multiple dynamic ranges and static assignments per DHCP subnet
Automate the creation of static assignments using the ARP cache.
