Mapping directory groups to local Smoothwall Filter and Firewall groups

Tip: The group mapping that you create here doesn't necessarily have to reflect your domain structure. You can create group mappings according to the filter policies or permissions in your network organization. For example, as a school your organizational units might reflect the year or grade structure (Year or Grade 1), while group mappings reflect the school type (Junior School, High School).

Note: More than one Directory group can belong to more than one Local group.

  1. On the SERVICES menu, under the Authentication submenu, click Directories.
  2. Under the Directories section, expand the relevant directory by clicking the blue pointing down arrow beside the directory name.
  3. Under the Group mappings section, click Add new group mapping.
  4. In the Add new group mapping dialog box, from the Directory group list, select the domain groups to map from.
  5. From the Local group list, select the local Smoothwall authentication group that you created in the prerequisite task.
  6. Make sure that the Enabled option is selected and click Add.
